Meeting Minutes

The Newtown Cultural Arts Commission (NCAC) held a meeting on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at 7:00 PM at the Newtown Municipal Center, 3 Primrose Street, Newtown, CT.

Members Present: Martin Blanco, Jennifer Johnston, Rob Kaiser, Donna Mangiafico, Donna Monteleone Randle, Jennifer Rogers, and Linda Watson
Members Absent:  Emily Howard
Auxiliary Members Present:  None

Guests:  Kate Katcher, Barbara Gaines

Jennifer Johnston called the meeting to order at 7:10 PM.

Minutes: Review and approval of the August 12, 2010 minutes was tabled.

Officer Reports:
Treasurer Linda Watson reported that the Paypal reports have balanced and reviewed the NCAC Financial Statement.

Jennifer Rogers offered to draft a comprehensive document for fundraising.  Sponsorship, advertisement, and matching grants were discussed.

Programs and Events:

Flagpole Radio Café:  Martin Blanco discussed the line-up of special guests for this season’s Flagpole Radio Café.  

Martin Blanco also related that Bob Nolte would like to re-establish a community band.  Martin Blanco and Jennifer Johnston will set up a meeting with Mr. Nolte to discuss how the NCAC can assist.

We’ve Got Talent
Donna Monteleone Randle discussed the We’ve Got Talent show and presented a list of acts currently in the line-up.  She discussed advertising, concessions, t-shirt sales, and finalizing the rehearsal schedule.

Play with Your Food
Kate Katcher discussed the proposal from Play with Your Food for a second season of lunchtime plays.  She also shared information about a series of Friday night performances by the StrayKats Theatre Company.  Ms. Katcher also reported that she was approached by an individual who offered to provide the StrayKats Theatre Company with a simple and affordable ticketing module which the NCAC may want to consider using as well.

NCAC Website:
Jennifer Johnston announced that the old website continues to function for information and ticket reservations while the new website is under construction.

Public Participation:  None

Other Business:  There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:00 PM.

The next meeting will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2010, 7:00 PM at the Newtown Municipal Center, 3 Primrose Street, Newtown, CT.
